Hiking routes: Wildwood Canyon Park

Wildwood Canyon Park 1701 Wildwood Canyon Rd, Burbank, CA 91501  In this hectic concrete world of ours it’s nice to sometimes reconnect with the bits and pieces of nature we have left. There are so many nature treasures to enjoy around us. I don’t know if it’s the warm Southern California sun, or workout produced endorphins, but hiking is a spiritual experience for me. Spending time with nature is in turn spending time with ourselves, and maybe even with a higher power as well. Recently, I have been making an effort to go hiking more often. Three things I love about hiking is quality time with nature, it’s a great workout, and a free activity to enjoy with others.  I like that it’s a workout but doesn’t feel like much effort is being exerted at first, until you reach the middle and feel inclined to finish the hike. It’s also immediately gratifying to reach the top of the mountain and have a beautiful view waiting to take your breath away. Plan:get in shape part 2 :)

I promised you all an update on my exercise routine in my last post. So here it is. Frankly, I have been shamed to update you because the plan did not get followed through by me. I have not necessarily been consistant, and I have not seen any real noticable results. I quickly learned that keeping track of all my calorie intake throughout the day was unrealistic. Concerning exercise, I was doing it for a while, but then I got burnt out. I was hiking early Saturday mornings, going to Zumba class during the week with a friend. I even quit beer for the month. But my stamina slowed recently. I also completely” pigged out” this past weekend (fried chicken, hamburgers, hotdogs, beer(s), and finished off with pumkin pie (yumm).  Was it worth it, honestly, YES! The good thing about falling off the wagon (whatever wagon you might be in), is that the guilt from the fall could re-energize you to work even harder toward your goal than before. Plan: Get in Shape!

Lately, my body image has been a focus of mine a little more than usual, with my upcoming wedding and my new found fascination with beer, lets just say it has been difficult to stay in shape. In January, I even purchased a new pair of nifty running shoes, hoping that would jumpstart my exercise routine. But it really hasn’t. More now than ever I understand the phrase, a body in motion stays in motion, and a body at rest stays at rest. My body has gotten acquainted with resting and that’s the way it wants to stay. But I want to break this pattern. So that my new found fondness of beer could be a habit I keep 😉 But how to get motivated.????? Well for one, my wedding dress just arrived and it is a size 4. So I gotta fit into it :), and I dont want to pay for ANY alterations. Also, I am the first to admit I have an elaborate appetite especially on the weekends I tend to allow myself to …
