Confessions from a Therapist: Do therapists need therapists?

In my position as a therapist I experience many challenges both personally and professionally, some weeks are more difficult, as well as more rewarding than others. I want to share those with you. I think this has been a running joke among layman people, they may think to themselves if the therapists needsĀ a therapistsĀ than we are all hopeless. But it’s true there is no way around it, everyone needs a little assistance sometimes. I went to my first therapy session as a professional therapist yesterday. I felt compelled to write about it because frankly even I could admit it is quite comical. I had a session with one of my client’s at 5pm, and I was scheduled to meet with my therapist at 6pm in the floor above me. So as I finished my session as a therapist, I ran upstairs to see mine.
